Nigeria is gearing up to host the 34th Africa and Middle East Regional meeting of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (IFATCA) in Abuja.
Scheduled for December 6th to 8th, 2023, the conference, themed ‘Shaping the Future: Trends and Insights on ATC Training For Tomorrow,’ anticipates over 300 delegates from Africa, the Middle East, and beyond.
Mr. Yomi Agoro, President of the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (NATCA), emphasized the substantial benefits for Nigeria, citing the last hosting in 2018 and the shift from Algiers due to unforeseen circumstances.
The event is expected to boost various sectors, and the opening ceremony will feature Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, as the special guest of honor, alongside other prominent figures in global aviation.
IFATCA’s crucial role in enhancing safety and security globally underscores the significance of this conference.
According to Agoro, “IFATCA is very key to the safety and security in the aviation industry globally . It is the federation of all licence air traffic controllers worldwide and since its establishment in the 1960s, it has done a lot to harmonise and promote the profession as well as the ethics, conduct and wellbeing of the personnel and in partnership with the ICAO global aviation Projections”.
