Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, the operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two, has reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards violence within the terminal premises, particularly against personnel carrying out their duties.
This stance comes after a disturbing incident on Sunday, April 20, 2025, when a disturbance broke out at the check-in counter of one of the airlines operating from MMA2, resulting in the physical assault of an Aviation Security officer by a male passenger.
The altercation was reportedly sparked by passenger frustration over a system error, and despite efforts to resolve the situation peacefully, the AVSEC officer was attacked.
This incident is not an isolated event, as a similar occurrence took place in December 2024, where another staff member was also assaulted while on duty.
The company strongly condemns these acts of violence and emphasizes that such behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The matter was immediately escalated, and the offending passenger has been handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary legal action.
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited will continue to follow up on the case to ensure justice is served.
According to Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications for BASL, the company is deeply concerned by the recurrence of such attacks on its personnel and will not hesitate to take decisive action to protect all individuals working at MMA2.
The company expects all passengers and terminal users to resolve grievances through lawful and respectful means, and its staff must be treated with dignity.
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited remains committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and secure environment for all terminal users and will continue working closely with the appropriate authorities to enforce its zero-tolerance stance on violence.
