
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has been recognized for its outstanding contributions to the development of the aviation industry in Nigeria.
The authority received the Award of Excellence from the Wings Support Family Foundation (WSFF), a non-governmental organization dedicated to providing healthcare assistance, scholarships, and supporting the development of the aviation industry.
The award was presented at the unveiling of the WSFF and the launch of a book titled “Nigeria Aviation and Aerospace Development: All You Need to Know” authored by Mr. Francis Adegoke, a member of the foundation.
The book provides valuable insights into the aviation industry in Nigeria and its development over the years.
According to the organizers, the award is a testament to the NCAA’s dedication to promoting the growth and development of the aviation industry in Nigeria, and its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of air travelers.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, Regional Manager, Lagos, Barr. Bukola Teriba expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event for the recognition.
She pledged the NCAA’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety of the industry, reiterating the Acting Director-General’s dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The award was one of several presented to notable individuals and organizations in the aviation industry, including the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, former Director-General of NCAA, Dr. Harold Demuren, former President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Dr. Bernard Aliu, and several other prominent figures in the industry.
Other awardees included Wakanow.com, Chief Allen Onyema, Dr. Wale Babalakin, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT).
The WSFF’s mission is to provide healthcare assistance to vulnerable individuals, including widows and widowers, in the aviation industry, as well as to provide scholarships to needy and physically challenged students in tertiary institutions.
The organization also collaborates with government agencies and development partners to support the development of the aviation industry in Nigeria.
The membership of the Foundation cuts across all professionals in the aviation industry. The members are mostly retired and serving Nigerian airline pilots, fight engineers, aircraft maintenance engineers, flight t dispatchers, cabin managers and other allied professionals.
