The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the temporary closure of Runway 18R at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMA) in Lagos to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation work.

According to FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the closure is scheduled to take place from 3:00 am on March 3, 2025, to 11:59 pm on March 4, 2025.

The temporary closure is part of FAAN’s efforts to maintain the airport’s infrastructure and ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of flights at Nigeria’s busiest international gateway.

The rehabilitation work is aimed at maintaining the airport’s infrastructure in optimal condition and ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of flight operations.

The work specifically focuses on the asphalt phase at the A2 Taxiway-link of the runway and to minimize disruptions, all international flights have been redirected to the domestic runway.

FAAN has assured airlines and passengers that the temporary closure will not cause significant disruptions to flight operations and is committed to upholding its core values of safety, security, and comfort.

Passengers and airline operators are advised to take note of the development and comply with all operational adjustments during the period.

The authority has assured that it will continue to provide updates on the situation and work closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.
