Aviation stakeholders have overwhelmingly named Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, as the Aviation Personality of the Year 2024.

This is according to Fortune Idu, coordinator of the 14th Nigeria Aviation Award Performance Review community.

The public survey conducted for the NIGAV Awards, endorsed by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, saw Keyamo garner a decisive 72% of the 4,128 industry votes cast.

Idu emphasized that this result reflects a significant vote of confidence in Keyamo’s leadership.

The Nigeria Aviation Award, known for its comprehensive evaluation of the aviation service delivery value chain, is organized by an independent private entity specializing in industry development.

This year’s survey witnessed a record-breaking turnout, exceeding 4,000 voters, a substantial increase from the usual 350, highlighting heightened public and industry engagement with the current administration’s aviation initiatives.

The awards, scheduled for April 11th, 2025, at the NIGAV Expo Event Centre, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, will feature the crowning of the King and Queen of the Air by Minister Keyamo, with the Governor of Lagos expected to attend.

Idu stressed the awards’ unique voting-based system, ensuring transparency and credibility, distinguishing it from other sector awards.

With the theme “Foundation for Accelerated Aviation Growth (FAAG),” the event aims to showcase the administration’s progress in laying the groundwork for sustainable aviation growth.

Further winners across various categories are expected to be announced as vote results are finalized.
