Overland Airways, Nigeria’s longest serving domestic airline, has successfully renewed its International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification for the 5th consecutive time.
This achievement is a testament to the airline’s commitment to operating according to the best international standards.
The IOSA certification is the globally recognized safety benchmark for airlines, and a requirement for African Union airlines. With over 417 airlines worldwide on the registry, IOSA has become the standard for operational safety.
In a statement the airline says, it was audited in eight disciplines, demonstrating its adherence to rigorous safety standards.
Capt. Edward Boyo, Accountable Executive and Chief Executive Officer of Overland Airways, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating, “The renewal of our IOSA certification is a validation of our commitment to offer our esteemed customers safe, convenient, and comfortable flight services across our expanding route network.”
Overland Airways has undergone significant changes in recent years, evolving from an all-turboprop fleet to a mixed fleet with the introduction of two brand-new Embraer E175 jets.
The airline has also expanded its route network, including the introduction of direct flight services between Lagos and Abuja in August 2024, which has relieved the capacity crunch on the route.
Capt. Boyo also acknowledged the crucial role of Overland Airways’ dedicated staff in achieving the IOSA certification, as well as the invaluable support of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
