Immigration Service Elevates Public Relations Officer and Over 4800 Personnel in 2023 Promotion Exercise

The Comptroller General of Immigration, Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, has officially declared the promotion of Adedotun Aridegbe, the Service Public Relations Officer, to the rank of Comptroller of Immigration, along with 4851 other personnel who participated in the 2023 Promotion exercise.

Adedeotun Aridegbe, the elevated spokesman for the Service, said the promotion details was conveyed through a letter from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board.

The announcement was made during the decoration ceremony at the Service Headquarters in Abuja, where the Comptroller General expressed gratitude to Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Board, for his unwavering commitment to staff motivation.

She charged the newly promoted officers to validate their advancements through heightened dedication and unwavering loyalty to authorities, assuring the government that the Immigration Service, under her leadership, would continue contributing significantly to the peace and progress of the country.

Noteworthy promotions included Sunday James, the former Service Public Relations Officer, and George Didel, a former Provost Marshal of the NIS, both elevated to the esteemed position of Assistant Comptrollers General of Immigration.

The breakdown of promotions included 18 Comptrollers of Immigration to Assistant Comptrollers General, 51 Deputy Comptrollers to Comptrollers of Immigration, and 43 Assistant Comptrollers of Immigration to Deputy Comptrollers of Immigration.

Further promotions encompassed 520 Chief Superintendents of Immigration to Assistant Comptrollers, 634 Superintendents of Immigration to Chief Superintendents, and 426 Deputy Superintendents of Immigration to Superintendents.

Moreover, 1366 Assistant Superintendents of Immigration were promoted to Deputy Superintendents, 804 Assistant Superintendents to Assistant Superintendents, and 990 Inspectors of Immigration to Assistant Superintendents.
