Domestic FC Secures Victory in NAHCO Chairman’s Cup, Triumphs Over Main Ramp in Thrilling Final

On Friday, the domestic football team, comprising the General Aviation Terminal, One GAT and Murtala Mohammed Airport Terminal Two, MMA2 stations, clinched the coveted NAHCO Chairman’s Cup, securing victory against the resilient Main Ramp team.

These top-performing teams, having triumphed in their respective groups and semi-finals, competed fiercely for the grand prize.

Domestic FC’s journey to the final included a 0-1 loss to United, a 2-1 victory over Import, a 3-0 win against HQ/Pax, and a commanding 6-0 triumph over Cargo Ramp in the semi-final. Main Ramp, on the other hand, defeated Security 4-1, Cargo Ramp 3-2, Export/Courier 3-2, and overcame United 4-3 in the semi-final.

Under the watchful eye of the Company Chairman, Dr. Seinde Oladapo Fadeni, who initiated the game at the Nigeria Air Force playing pitch in Ikeja, Domestic FC emerged triumphant.

Team captain Sunday Ogundare scored the opening goal, followed by a second from playmaker Afeez Bamitefa, creating an own goal by a Main Ramp defender. Victor Azum sealed the victory with the third goal from a penalty.

Expressing his appreciation for the impressive soccer display, Chairman Fadeni envisioned NAHCO FC participating in the Nigerian professional league in the future.

He commended both the losing and winning teams for their exemplary efforts.

The Group CEO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, emphasized that since all participating teams belonged to NAHCO, the company itself emerged as the ultimate winner, urging the continuation of the bonds that unite the company.

During the award ceremony, the Chairman recognized and honored match officials, presented bronze medals to Cargo Ramp FC, silver medals to Main Ramp FC, and crowned Domestic FC as the champions.

Individual awards went to Emmanuel Nkwocha (Main Ramp FC) for Most Valuable Player (MVP), Victor Azum (Domestic FC) for the Golden Boot (Highest Goal Scorer), and Ahmed Ibrahim (Domestic FC) for the Golden Glove.

The NAHCO Chairman’s Cup stands as an annual inter-departmental football competition, bringing together stations and departments in Lagos for spirited competition.
