…Praises NCAA CPD for Inclusive Regulatory Dialogue

The Director of Airline Services Ibom Air, Mrs. Amaka Echetabu, has stressed the need of human capital development in the aviation industry, stating that it is the key to driving technology and achieving service excellence.

Speaking at the NCAA Consumer Protection stakeholders’ engagement in Lagos, Mrs. Echetabu noted that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) Consumer Protection Department (CPD) is actively engaging with stakeholders to promote a renewed and inclusive regulatory dialogue.

She commended the CPD for its efforts, saying that it is working to develop a culture of inclusivity and collaboration among stakeholders.

“I want to say that we have a CPD that’s very active, CPD that’s engaging, I agree seriously with this part of the statement that says a renewed and inclusive regulatory dialogue”.

She added, “With NCAA CPD, when they say consumer, they’re not just talking about the customer, they’re talking about us as well. I just want to say NCAA CPD is working, they are really working and I appreciate”.

However, she emphasized that there is still a lot of room for development in the human capital space, citing the need for a mindset shift among industry players.

Mrs. Echetabu drew parallels between the aviation industry and other sectors, highlighting the importance of human capital in driving technology and achieving service excellence.

“We need to reorientate our minds and everything technology will work, if we are programmed to make sure it works, If we agree to see to it that it works and concepts, applications, ideology, behaviors towards it, human behavior is what will make it work. If not, we’ll go to selling a lame duck or building a white elephant”.

She noted that the industry needs to focus on developing the skills and competencies of its workforce, particularly in areas such as customer service and communication.

The Ibom Air Director also emphasized the need for a culture of continuous learning and development, adding that this is essential for driving innovation and improving service delivery.

“But if our culture is not addressed, it will end up like every other white elephant. I think that CPD has called us here today to dialogue, to come up with a commitment from each and every one of us that the aviation industry has to turn around”.

She encouraged stakeholders to adopt a growth mindset and to be open to new ideas and perspectives.
