The Vice President, Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), Dr. Allen Onyema, and the body spokesman, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, have paid glowing tributes to the Director General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo for the transformation he has brought to the regulatory agency since his appointment last year.

The AON leaders, who spoke at the International Air Transport Conference in Abuja described Captain Najomo’s administration as the best that has ever happened in the industry, saying that the changes taking place in the regulatory aspect of the country’s aviation sector are commendable.

According to them, the coming on board of Captain Najomo has revolutionized the sector, ensuring the safety of aircraft and passengers, and making the Nigeria CAA one of the best in the world.

They also commended President Bola Tinubu for the wisdom in appointing Captain Najomo and the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), whom they said has confronted the global aviation community and ensured Nigeria is now respected.

Dr. Onyema said that Captain Najomo has zero tolerance for anything unsafe, and that his administration has brought the ease of doing business to the fore, making it seamless for airlines to operate in the country.

He also commended the Minister of Aviation for taking the entire industry out of unofficial blacklisting, saying that this has opened up opportunities for Nigerian airlines to lease aircraft and operate efficiently.

Professor Okonkwo described Captain Najomo as a blessing to the aviation industry, saying that he is a square peg in a square hole.

He also praised the Director General for his ability to get things done quickly, citing an instance where he was able to obtain a landing permit for a chartered flight in less than an hour.

The AON leaders also commended President Tinubu for appointing bright people into positions, saying that this has restored the ease of doing business in aviation.

They also expressed their fear about what would happen when Captain Najomo’s tenure expires, saying that they hope that the country would be able to find another leader who can continue his good work.
