
General Manager, Customer Service, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Ebele Okoye has been honoured with an Excellence Award for Customer Service Delivery in The Aviation industry.
Dr. Okoye received the award this weekend during the Nigeria Annual Transport Lecture/Exhibition/Awards held with the theme: “Improving Nigeria Transportation Systems: The Way Forward”, organised by Transport Day at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.
Commenting on the award, the recipient said “I feel so good because I didn’t know I will be here today, having returned from a vacation. When they wrote to inform me about the award, I was so happy to be part of what is happening here today. The organisers are well organised and I am happy with all the other award recipients in the transportation industry” .
Advising future awardees, Okoye said that the bottomline is hardwork, just as she urged people to always develop passion for their work.
“You must have passion for your work and don’t look look at anything coming to you. Work with the heart of impacting positively to people and also to impact knowledge to people in the society, notwithstanding their status”, she advised.
Okoye opined that when someone is working hard, time will come when people they never expected will honour them.
“I have won different awards within and outside Africa. People should be passionate in whatever they do”.
The Managing Editor of Transport Day newspaper, Mr. Frank Kintum had in his welcome address congratulated all the awardees, pointing out that winners were carefully chosen based on merit.
Kintum said that the lecture/awards which is in its 8th edition has helped to brainstorm on contemporary issues affecting the transportation industry.
The award recipient , Dr. Okoye has an honourary Doctorate degree in Public Administration from the American Heritage University in Southern California, a certificate in Leadership Management for Senior Officers (DIP) from the Harvard Business School, Boston Massachusetts and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, majoring in marketing, inter alia in Nigeria and abroad.
Dr. Okoye began her career in FAAN with the Commercial Directorate, working her way up the ranks, and going through several Directorate in various capacities.
Before her current position, Dr. Okoye has been the Regional General Manager of the South-South/South East Airports with Airports under her purview, while doubling as the Airport Manager of the Port Harcourt International Airport, Acting General Manager (Budget and Planning) FAAN, Directorate of Finance and Account, FAAN Headquarters, Lagos, amongst others.
The 2021 /8th edition of the Nigeria Annual Transport Lecture, Exhibition and Awards, with the theme: “Improving Nigeria Transportation System; The Way Forward” was well attended by stakeholders in the nation’s transport sector.
Some of the award recipients include: Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, Chairman, Governing Council, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NIIT), Mr John Onojeharho, Director General of National Automotive Design and Development (NADDC), Mr Jelani Aliyu, Director General/Chief Executive Officer of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN)Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda.
Others are the, National President, Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs /Agents (ANLCA), Mr. Tony Iju Nwabunike and Executive Secretary, Lubricants Producers Association of Nigeria (LUBON), Mr Obidike Emeka.
Others are: Julius Berger, Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL), PAN Nigeria, Simba Group, Stallion Motors, etc.
