
President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, has commended Nigeria’s progress in space technology emphasizing the need for greater involvement in advanced space exploration.
She gave the commendation when the Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers (NISE) on Wednesday hosted the 8th Annual Distinguished Lecture in honor of Engr. Brig. Gen. M.O. Agu, FNSE.
Engr. Oguntala called for increased government support to empower Nigerian engineers and scientists to lead national and global space initiatives.
The event, themed “Nigeria’s 21 Years in Space (2003 – 2024): Achievements, Challenges, and Prospects,” featured prominent figures in the space engineering field.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Rabiu Babatunde, FAS, provided a comprehensive overview of Nigeria’s journey in space exploration since 2003.
He highlighted significant milestones, challenges faced, and future prospects for the country’s space program.
The lecture was attended by a distinguished gathering, including former President Engr. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, PhD, GCFR, FNSE, Senator Prof. Ajayi R. Boroffice, and the Director-General/CEO of NASRDA, Dr. Matthew Adepoju.
