…Constitute Governing Boards for Aviation Agencies

Aviation experts under the aegis of Aviation Roundtable initiative, ART have urged the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu to initiate deliberate policies to review and suspend taxes, tariffs and charges in order to bring succour to aviation and allied businesses in Nigeria.
President of the ART, Air Commodore Demola Onitiji retired who made the call at the first ART quarterly Business Breakfast meeting in Lagos, said, such policies should address airline survival and growth with a view to lowering the recent astronomical increase in air fare on the domestic scene.
Emphasizing on passenger protection, Air commodore Onitiju retired, said, the Consumer Rights Protection Directorate in the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA should live up to its billing in ensuring maximum comfort and compensation for the traveling public promptly where infractions are established.
He called on the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace development, Mr. Festus Keyamo to immediately constitute Governing Boards for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other aviation agencies in the Nigerian aviation sector.
These Boards the ART president stated would not only assist the Director General, Civil Aviation DGCA and other CEOs in formulating enduring policies for the agencies but would also serve as the barometer for ensuring the good corporate governance practice of transparency, accountability and responsibility.
According to him, corruptive tendencies often associated with political interference would be appropriately checkmated and curbed by a focused and knowledgeable board.
