Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, has affirmed his administration’s strong commitment to the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, signaling a unified push towards revitalizing Nigeria’s cultural heritage and boosting its tourism sector.
The pledge was made during a high-level courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Governor Radda lauded Minister Musawa’s ambitious vision and strategic initiatives aimed at reclaiming Nigeria’s cultural legacy, fostering the creative industry, and unlocking the nation’s tourism potential.
He specifically commended the Ministry’s efforts in recovering and preserving invaluable cultural artifacts, emphasizing their timeliness and alignment with the broader national agenda for cultural and tourism renewal.
Highlighting Katsina State’s proactive measures, Governor Radda detailed the ongoing N100 million renovation of the historic Gobarau Minaret and the N640 million restoration of the National Museum in Katsina.
He affirmed that these investments transcend mere preservation, representing a deliberate strategy to invigorate tourism, generate employment opportunities, and cultivate a stronger sense of cultural identity.
Governor Radda reiterated the critical need for Nigeria to reposition its culture, creativity, and tourism sectors as significant drivers of economic growth and national rebranding.
He expressed concern over the underutilization of the economic potential within these sectors by previous administrations, asserting their immense capacity for youth engagement, innovation, and inclusive development, provided adequate infrastructure and investment are secured.
In response, the Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa expressed her appreciation for the governor’s visit and commended the Katsina State Government’s proactive stance on heritage conservation and tourism development.
She stressed the Ministry’s dedication to building a dynamic creative and tourism economy that fosters job creation, cultural pride, and economic diversification.
“This Ministry stands ready to collaborate with forward-thinking state governments like Katsina. By working together, we can unlock the full potential of tourism, support our creative talents, and rebrand Nigeria through culture.”
