Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, has announced a significant strengthening of bilateral relations with China, following a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai.
The discussions, held in Abuja, centered on fostering collaborations across key sectors including music, film, technology, and tourism, with a focus on unlocking new opportunities for both nations.
According to a statement released by Sandra C. Njoku, Technical Assistant on Media to the Minister, this partnership will facilitate increased access for Nigerian artists to the expansive Chinese market, alongside the implementation of capacity-building programs, investment in animation and film production, and incubation initiatives aimed at nurturing young creatives.
Crucially, both countries have committed to streamlining visa processes for industry stakeholders, ensuring smoother cultural and economic exchanges.
A central component of the collaboration is Nigeria’s renewed emphasis on revitalizing its major tourist sites, positioning the country as a leading global destination for culture and entertainment.
This initiative aligns with the Nigerian government’s broader commitment to infrastructural development and policy reforms designed to bolster the creative and tourism industries.
Barr. Musawa emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership, highlighting the creative sector’s current 4 percent contribution to the Nigerian economy and the ambitious $100 billion investment target.
“This partnership presents a remarkable opportunity to drive cultural exchange, job creation, and innovation,” she stated.
“Through strengthened international ties, we are opening new frontiers for Nigerian creatives and tourism stakeholders to thrive on the global stage.”
