In a meeting with representatives of the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) on Thursday, Tourism Minister Mrs. Lola Ade John reaffirmed her commitment to partnering with the industry to promote Nigeria’s rich tourism assets.
The minister met with NATOP President Mrs. Bolaji Mustapha and her executive team to discuss the association’s plans to explore and market Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage, ecological tourism, hospitality, festivals, and fashion.
The Minister said, “We are excited about NATOP’s vision to showcase Nigeria’s beauty to both domestic and international travelers”.
“The ministry will provide all necessary support to ensure the success of your initiatives.”
While the minister acknowledged the current budgetary constraints that may impact the ministry’s participation in international tourism events like the World Travel Market (WTM), she assured NATOP that Nigeria would be well-represented at future events.
“We are committed to showcasing Nigeria’s tourism offerings to the world. With increased budgetary support, we will be able to implement more ambitious tourism projects.”
NATOP President Mustapha outlined the association’s short-term and long-term goals, including the “Rediscover Nigeria” project aimed at promoting domestic tourism and highlighting the country’s unique attractions.
“We believe that tourism can play a significant role in job creation and economic development. By working together, we can improve Nigeria’s global ranking as a tourism destination.”
