The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has commenced the training of Mashallers to enhance their skills in carrying out their safety critical duty and follow strict safety guidance.
The Mashallers are personnel who provide guidance to the aircraft during maneuvering on the ground.
According to the Mr. Fortune Idu, an international Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO certified instructor, the training was to make sure that the competence of the operations officers is high in accordance with aviation standard practices.
The training focused on; airfield safety awareness, apron safety risk assessment, standard guidance signals and practical marshalling as recommended in Annex 2.
He started that the development compliments many of the recent accolades recorded by Nnamdi Azikwe International airport which follows the extraordinary performance by the airport Manager Mr. Sani Mamoud.
Mr. Idu said, this was an indicated that the rapid progress being made in Abuja was due to the support and strong commitment by FAAN’S top Management led by the Managing Director, Captain Rabiu Yadudu who is committed to improving full airport service delivery and safety of all airport operations.
“Abuja airport is lucky to have such support”.
To inspire confidence and encourage the Mashallers, the Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Muktar Muye and Director of Human Resources and Administration, Mr. Norris Anozie were on ground at the training which took place in Abuja promising to take similar training to other airports.
