A staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, has been shot dead by bandits around the runway of the Kaduna airport today.
Managing Director NAMA, Mr. Lawrence Pwajok who confirmed the death of one of his staff said, the staff was in charge of guarding some of the landing aids at the airside and killed a kilometer away from the runway.
According to him, a technical staff was able to escape from the site after his colleague was killed in the incident that occurred at 12pm.
“It’s true, bandits attacked our Navaids site which is a kilometer away from the runway, they killed the watchman while the technical staff ran back”.
Mr. Pwajok explained that, during the attack, the military was alerted and they responded swiftly.
“The situation is now under control by the military, the few flights were able to take off afterwards”.
It would be recalled that in 2021, 12 persons from different families were abducted by bandits when they entered the airport through the airside.
