Nigeria is to sign a Bilateral Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with some notable countries at forth coming 7th meeting of the African Flight Information, AFI Regional Conference taking place in Abuja on Monday 16th May, 2022.
The event jointly hosted by the Federal Ministry of Aviation (FMA) in conjunction with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) will bring together Directors General of Civil Aviation Authorities, Aviation Safety and Security Representatives, Aviation Experts of African-Indian Ocean (AFI) Region Member States, and other Representatives and experts from International/ Regional Organizations.
General Manager, Public Affairs, NCAA, Sam Adurogboye, in a press statement says, the event will avail Directors-General of Civil Aviation Authorities the opportunity to brainstorm and chart a course aimed at further developing the appropriate strategies and providing the necessary actions to support the enhancement of the aviation system in Africa.
Among the things to be discussed by participants will include, important issues like progress made in implementing the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) global and regional Plan, enhancement of aviation performance in all ICAO strategic objectives, key priorities for the coming years, COVID-19 aviation recovery and building back better and the outcome of the ICAO High-Level Conference on COVID – 19 (HLCC) 2021 amongst others.
Other areas to be covered are; the 9th Meeting of the AFI Directors-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA/9), 25th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Comprehensive Regional Implementation Plan for Aviation Safety in Africa (AFI Plan) and the 11th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Comprehensive Regional Implementation Plan for Aviation Security and Facilitation in Africa (AFI SECFAL Plan) aviation Symposium.
The global event which is 7th in its series is slated for Monday, 16th – Friday, 20th May, 2022 at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.
Meanwhile only the opening session holding on Monday 16th of May is opened to the public after which the delegates will break into technical sessions.
