Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development
… Inks Air Service Agreement with Guyana for Expanded Global Connectivity
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given the green light for a substantial 3 billion Naira contract.
This contract involves supplying and installing customised explosive and narcotic detection screening systems for five international airports in Nigeria.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo shared this information during a briefing with State House correspondents, highlighting the importance of these screening systems at airports such as Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja, Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, as well as two others in Enugu and Port Harcourt.
The minister emphasized that these advanced screening systems would eliminate the need for manual checks on travelers’ bags, preventing disruptions to the organization of their luggage contents.
Additionally, FEC’s approval extends to the signing of a bilateral air service agreement with the Republic of Guyana, a South American nation.
According to Mr. Keyamo, this agreement is anticipated to establish direct routes to South American countries, fostering the growth of trade activities.
