FAAN shuts down MMIA apron to link new terminal

The apron at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, is to be closed for 6 weeks for construction work effective Friday 7, 2019.

These Areas; the apron Gate 1 and some sections of Taxiway F are to be closed to human and vehicular traffic for six weeks.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria hereby notifies airlines, airport users and the general public that effective Friday June 7, 2019”.

Management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN,says the closure was to enable the contractor handling the construction of the new terminal being handled by the China Civil Construction Company to link the proposed apron under construction to the existing one.

Airlines, Airport users and the general public, the Authority says have been notified of the current development.

According to the spokesperson for FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, to maintain orderliness and ensure safety of operators while the project last, the Authority had developed and deployed specific procedures for vehicular movements and officers of the Aviation Security department have been mobilized to ensure compliance.

“The Authority will like to solicit the understanding and cooperation of all concerned towards ensuring a safe airside for aircraft movement and personnel safety during the construction”.
