….posing a challenge for airline operators and passengers alike.

From January 29th to 31st, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) advises caution as visibility dwindles in the wake of a predicted dust haze.

This advisory echoes the recent warning from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), who anticipate deteriorating visibility due to an influx of dust.

Their weather outlook paints a picture of reduced horizons: moderate dust haze with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km over the northern regions, potentially dipping lower in localized areas.

This hazy curtain extends southward, enveloping the north-central regions and venturing into the inland areas of the south and even the coastal belt.

For airline operators, navigating this dusty landscape demands meticulous planning. Updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet become crucial resources, guiding flight paths and ensuring passenger safety remains the top priority.

Passengers, meanwhile, are encouraged to exercise patience and understanding during this period, recognizing that delays or disruptions may occur in the interest of everyone’s well-being.

Beyond the flight disruptions, the dust carries health concerns for everyone. Individuals with respiratory issues, such as asthma, are advised to be particularly cautious. For all, protecting skin, eyes, and lips becomes paramount. Moisturizing frequently and using face masks where possible can help mitigate the dust’s impact.

Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations as the Authority urges all passengers to exercise patience and understanding during this period as their safety is of utmost importance.
