The Minister of Aviation Senator, Hadi Sirika says work on the Akanu Ibiam International airport runway in Enugu has been restarted.
The Minister of Aviation Senator Hadi Sirika who announced this says the contractor handling the project has been remobilized back to site, to complete the rehabilitation of works at the airport.

The minister on his twitter handle says, “We announce our full remobilization to Enugu despite COVID-19 lockdown.”
Sirika says, the restart of works at the airport will be greeted by heavy rains but assured that the challenges that will come with it will be surmounted in due time.
“Even with challenges like heavy rains, opening up of quarries and bitumen sources we should complete this procurement in few weeks.”
He stated the new completion date of the works will be made known at his next inspection visit to the airport.
“A definite date of completion will be announced at my next site visit”.
The work on the runway stopped in the hit of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this affected the earlier opening date of the airport which was before the easter celebrations.
