Aviation experts under the aegis of Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ART) says it is an embarrassement to Nigeria for the country’s Vice president Yemi Osinbajo to be flown by a foreign pilot

This is coming on the heels of the helicopter crash in Kabba kogi state carrying the vice president during his campaign trip to that state.

Last Saturday 2nd February 2019, a helicopter Agusta AW139 with registration number: 5N-CML and serial number: 31389 owned and operated by Caverton Helicopters carrying Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo crashed in Kabba, Kogi all 12 souls on board survived unhurt.

The group also frown on the shoddy way the security of the the Nigeria’s number 2 man was managed.

In a statement signed bybMr. Olu Uhunayo, the ART says, “We are deeply concerned about the management of security of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is embarrassing to see the Vice President of Nigeria being flown by a foreign pilot whether contracted or chartered in a Nigerian Police helicopter as noticed in a previous flight during these campaign season.”

While appreciating God for His mercies on Vice President, the ground also expressed worry of the poor management of the crowd milled around the chopper, stressing that if there had been any explosion the casualties would have been doubled.

“While waiting for the AIB report of the accident, we are disturbed about the preparation made for the landing of the helicopter in that area and the crowd that surged towards the helicopter after the crash, if there had been fire, we would have experienced some casualties.”
