Amidst grandeur and festivities, the Women Wing of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), known as WILAT, jubilantly marked International Women’s Day in Lagos.

Gathered at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) annex within Lagos International Airport, women from the institute commemorated the occasion sponsored by the Aviation Mode chapter.

Under the theme “Inspire Inclusion,” the event commenced with a reflective address by WILAT Chairperson, Khadijat Shaidu-Shabi, emphasizing the historical significance of the day and encouraging women to champion gender equality across all sectors.

“Whether in the marketplace, the household, or the boardroom, let us advocate for justice and equality,” she proclaimed.

The Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Obiageli Orah, represented by the Deputy General Manager, Protocol and Passages, Mrs Christabel Eromosele, echoed the theme’s relevance, urging women to uphold excellence and mentor the next generation.

Keynote speaker, Managing Director, FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by the Director, Commercial and Business Development, Ms. Adebola Agunbiade, reiterated the importance of women empowering each other and advocating for equal rights, emphasizing unity for societal change.

In a commendation, Acting Director General, NCAA, Capt. Chris Ona Najomo, represented by the Regional General Manager, Lagos, Mrs Bukola Teriba, praised women for their dedication to safety in transportation and encouraged them to maintain their commitment.

Paper presentations by notable figures such as Mrs. Folake Soji-George, Global Chairperson North and West Africa WILAT, emphasized the importance of fostering inclusion and rejecting divisive attitudes.

Mrs. Mary Okoliko, Head of Department, Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA Fire Service, HQ, Marine, highlighted women’s achievements across diverse fields, underscoring their undeniable contributions.

In gratitude, aviation representative, CILT,Mrs. Queen Ajayi, thanked special guests for their support, attributing the success of the event to the collective effort of CILT members.

The celebration culminated in the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals, including Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku and Capt. Chris Ona Najomo, followed by distribution of souvenirs and a jubilant dance, symbolizing unity and strength: “Women, We are Stronger Together.”
