The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigeria King and Queen of the Air (NKQA) contest, a national initiative aimed at enhancing inflight aviation practices and promoting exemplary conduct among cabin crew.
Director General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, pledged the regulatory body’s continued support for the NKQA, organized by FCI International Limited, the owners of the NIGAV Centre.
This endorsement affirms the NCAA’s dedication to fostering professionalism and safety within the Nigerian aviation sector.
Capt. Najomo recently welcomed the reigning King and Queen of the Air, Mr. Tyger Opunabo from Arik Air, and Miss Chinaza Miracle Okechukwu from Value Jet, at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja.
He lauded the NKQA concept as “innovative and brilliant,” recognizing its significant contribution to promoting better services and highlighting the vital roles of cabin crew.
He added, “This contest serves as a platform to elevate the standards of cabin crew performance and raise awareness of their crucial responsibilities”.
The DGCA encouraged the reigning King and Queen to continue serving as exemplary Aviation Ambassadors, representing cabin crew across all Nigerian airlines.
Founder of the NKQA program, Fortune Idu, explained that the current King and Queen are concluding their year-long reign with goodwill roadshows, expressing gratitude for the industry’s support and paving the way for the next air ambassadors.
The new King and Queen will be announced on April 11, 2025, following a live onstage contest featuring over 12 finalists.
The NKQA winners will serve as national aviation ambassadors of goodwill, spearheading safety-critical campaigns for the industry. This year’s competition is expected to be particularly engaging, with a focus on highlighting the essential role of cabin crew in ensuring passenger safety and comfort.
