Prof. Matazu adds another cap as ‘ATQ CEO of the Year 2022’, harps on effective and sustainable service delivery

….NiMet bags ‘Most Improved Aviation Agency of the Year’. 

The Director General, Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NiMet, Prof. Mansur Matazu has added another beautiful feather to his cap of many colours for his professionalism and unwavering commitment in taking NiMet to greater heights.

At the just concluded, Air Transport Quarterly, magazine ATQ Awards tagged ‘Achievers Award’, Prof. Matazu bagged the award as the ‘ATQ CEO of the Year’ while NiMET, the agency he oversees won the  ‘Most Improved Aviation Agency of the Year’. 

For many who have been following the agency’s progress since Prof. Matazu assumed office would agree that indeed, he has taken the agency to an enviable heights and the award was given to whom it fits.

According to the ATQ Award Committee, under his leadership, NiMet has assumed a highly distinguished oracular clout for its authoritative weather predictions that staffers with uncanny accuracy and amazing prophetic exactitude.

The committee also noted that, recently the minister of aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika commended Prof. Matazu for his impressive level of consistency of the agency under his stewardship in upholding the requisite standard of professionalism.

The editor in chief of ATQ Mr. Supo Atobatele, in his opening remarks said, the award is to show case once again industry achievers and reward excellence in service delivery as championed by  the Awardees at their respective duty posts during the period in review.

While receiving the awards in Lagos in an event with major stakeholders in attendance, Prof. Matazu commended the critical role of the media in strategic development globally and Nigeria. 

“I wish to gladly accept this Award of the ATQ CEO of the Year 2022, AND THE Most Improved Aviation Agency of the Year 2022. I therefore pledge my continuous support, with the help of Almighty Allah, to the good of ALL humanity”.

Prof. Matazu represented by his special assistant, Mr. Idowu Oluwaseun emphasized that, there would be no meaningful assessment of progress and evaluation of performance without accurate and timely reporting of activities both internally and externally. 

“Similarly, quality reporting attracts investments that are critical to growth and development. In the Aviation Industry, good and quality reporting with patriotism is a catalyst for Industry Growth by attracting tourists and travelling public to our airports. Hence, the Special Place of Air Transport Quarterly Magazine”.

He also added, “In my career journey, up to the level of Professorship and the Chief Executive of NiMet, Investing in the System under which I have had privilege of working and positively impacting on the lives I have been opportune to meet along the way have been part of my personal development”. 

Prof. Matazu expressed his unwavering belief that a good working environment i.e. System and a motivated workforce i.e. Lives lead to Quality Service delivery that is not only visible but relevant and World Class.

He said, in NiMet they strongly believe in training and re-training of its personnel in order to ensure competent and highly skilled workforce in addition to numerous investment in infrastructure development, not only in aviation, but also in other areas of meteorological application such as agriculture and marine among others.

“This is of course  Since 2013, we have maintained Quality Management System ISO certification beginning from ISO 9001:2008 to the current ISO 9001:2015. Similarly in capacity building, we have maintained ISO 29990:2010”.

Prof. Matazu therefore craved the support of all industry experts and stakeholders in their quest to lift the nation higher through effective and sustainable service delivery.
