Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency NAMA, Engr. Ahmed Farouk has reiterated the agency’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and safety through strategic investments and a focused mindset.
Addressing participants at the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers, NAAE, Lagos Branch, Annual General Meeting, Public Lecture, and Election, Engr. Farouk commended the Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) for their crucial role in maintaining the nation’s air traffic management systems, acknowledging their “tireless dedication, expertise, and commitment.”
The MD NAMA represented by the Director, Air Traffic Services, Mr. John Tayo highlighted significant strides made over the past 15 months, noting the agency’s proactive approach to modernizing infrastructure and improving operational efficiency.
He pointed to substantial investments in equipment procurement, work environment renovations, and staff welfare initiatives, all aimed at bolstering the agency’s capabilities.
A core focus of his address centered on initiatives designed to streamline operations and enhance safety protocols.
“We have made significant strides in modernizing our infrastructure, enhancing our safety protocols, and improving our operational efficiency,” he stated.
He further detailed ongoing investments in advanced technologies to enhance surveillance and communication capabilities, reflecting NAMA’s dedication to staying at the forefront of aviation technology.
Engr. Farouk also underscored the development of new training programs, designed to equip staff with the skills necessary to navigate the evolving aviation landscape.
Enhancements to safety management systems were also mentioned, ensuring continuous learning and improvement.
The NAMA boss stressed the importance of a collective mindset aligned with the agency’s goals, echoing the AGM’s theme, “The ATSEP mindset for impact.”
He urged attendees to elect leaders who would support the management’s vision of a safe, seamless, effective, and economical air navigation system.
“Our mindset as staff is expected to be tailored towards positively impacting on the set goals and objectives of the Management,” he asserted, calling for unity in driving the agency forward.
The MD also acknowledged the contributions of retiring colleagues, expressing gratitude for their service, and extended his appreciation to the continuing staff for their unwavering commitment.
