The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has reaffirmed that Airpeace Airlines is Nigeria’s designated flag carrier for the London route and has the full support of the Nigerian government.
He made this statement in response to recent reports of alleged safety violations at Gatwick Airport raised by the UK Civil Aviation Authority inspectors concerning Airpeace Airlines.
In a statement personally signed by the Minister, Mr. Keyamo noted that he has been thoroughly briefed on the matter by the Acting Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
“I have been informed that the safety issues raised have been adequately addressed by the management of Air Peace and have been resolved to the satisfaction of the UK authorities,” he said.
Mr. Keyamo emphasized the Federal Government’s confidence in the safety of operations of all Nigerian flag carriers on international routes, including Air Peace, and reiterated the government’s continued support for these airlines in their pursuit of operational excellence.
“For clarity, the Federal Government of Nigeria fully supports all local airlines designated for international routes and will provide the necessary assistance and cooperation to ensure their success. Air Peace is no exception,” he concluded.
