An aircraft a Boeing 737-700 operated by Arik Air from Lagos to Abuja this morning experienced an air return due to a potential fire indication.
The incident according to the Management of the airline occurred roughly 10 minutes after takeoff, prompting the Captain to initiate a safe return to Lagos in accordance with standard procedures.
Priority landing clearance was requested and granted by the Control Tower.
Passengers were reported to have disembarked upon landing in Lagos, and the aircraft underwent a comprehensive inspection by maintenance crews.
The investigation revealed that the warning light was a false alarm.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our passengers by this event”, says the airline.
