The Director General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Captain Muktar Usman says investigation is still ongoing on the alleged reports of theft in an aircraft taxing on the runway to park at the Lagos airport.
He said they were yet to get confirmation whether there was an actual theft or not, adding they were looking at the possibility and also putting things in place to prevent that in case anybody attempts to do something like that.
“So far, we have received information, we are investigating to ascertain that actually that happened because I have not been able to get that confirmation whether there was actual theft, we are looking at possibility and also putting things in place to prevent in case anybody attempts to do something like that”.
Captain Usman who was speaking on the recent tweets that went viral by Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian musician that her bags were stollen from the private jet she boarded on the runway in Lagos on arrival from Uyo, said as far as the incident was concerned, the authority had been informed and work to unravel the truthful of the story had kicked off in earnest.
The NCAA boss noted that, “security is always a challenge everywhere, as you are developing ways of improving, the bad guys are also working very hard to see how they can circumvent those things that are put in place and that is why we would not discuss the details what we have”.
He emphasized that security had been enhanced “and we would continue to assess the security at every given time to ensure we meet the challenges squarely to ensure that security is adequately taken care”.
