Passengers to See Major Airport Improvements Soon, says FAAN Boss

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has announced significant strides in enhancing airport security and infrastructure across the nation.

In a recent interview during a tour by the chairman board, FAAN, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje of the Lagos airports, Mrs. Kuku disclosed that, the installation of advanced explosive detection devices at airports are underway,  a move aimed at ensuring passenger safety and improving operational efficiency. 

According to her, this initiative is part of a broader project to upgrade security equipment nationwide.

She also provided updates on the ongoing terminal rehabilitation projects, noting that several of these projects are nearing completion. 

Passengers can expect substantial improvements in airport facilities in the coming months, particularly at Lagos and Abuja airports, the FAAN boss assured.

These enhancements include upgraded amenities for passengers with disabilities, cleaner environments, renovated restrooms, and revamped VIP facilities.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Kuku outlined FAAN’s strategic priorities, which include maintaining safety and security on runways and airside operations. 

An enhanced safety policy, developed in collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), is being rigorously implemented.

Kuku said, FAAN is also focused on the recertification of Kano and Port Harcourt airports, following the successful recertification of two airports last year.

Others are; runway and terminal rehabilitation projects remain a top priority to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.

Mrs. Kuku acknowledged the positive feedback from passengers regarding the ongoing improvements, particularly at secondary and primary airports. 

However, she emphasized that FAAN is committed to continuous development to meet international standards and passenger expectations.
