….74.8% revenue increase highlights stellar year
The Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC is celebrating a year of remarkable progress under the guidance of its Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin.
Her leadership has ushered in an era of strategic expansion, significantly improved operational performance, and a series of impressive achievements that have solidified SAHCO’s position as a leading force in African aviation ground handling.
The company has witnessed a dramatic financial turnaround, posting a 74.8% revenue increase for the year ending December 2024 compared to the previous year.
This surge in revenue is a testament to SAHCO’s focus on operational excellence, enhanced service delivery, and strong partnerships within the aviation industry. This success is mirrored in the company’s ability to secure and renew crucial airline contracts.
SAHCO successfully renewed its five-year ground handling contract with British Airways, a clear indication of its commitment to quality service. Agreements with South African Airways, Bristow Airlines, Value Jet, Ibom Air, Green Africa, and Air Cote D’Ivoire further demonstrate the confidence airlines place in SAHCO.
The company’s reach has also expanded, securing handling rights for Air Peace’s London route, Ibom Air’s regional operations to Accra, and Uganda Airlines’ services to Abuja. SAHCO has also diversified its portfolio, entering the religious tourism sector with Hajj handling contracts for Flynas and Umza Air.
The revival of the Nigerian-Italian route after nearly two decades, through a full handling contract with Neos Air, marks another significant milestone. Domestically, SAHCO has solidified its market dominance with new handling agreements with Umza Aviation, LTT Cargo, and ASTRA Aviation.
SAHCO’s commitment to safety and efficiency has garnered significant recognition, including multiple awards from British Airways for Safety & Punctuality at the Lagos station, and a similar accolade for its Abuja operations.
The company also achieved a remarkable operational feat, completing a 37-minute turnaround for an Ethiopian Airlines cargo flight – a record for offloading 37 pallets from a Boeing 777 in under 40 minutes.
Under Mrs. Aboderin’s leadership, safety and sustainability remain paramount. SAHCO successfully renewed its IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) and RA3 certifications, and strengthened its affiliation with the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).
The company has also invested in eco-friendly aviation ground support equipment, demonstrating its commitment to environmental responsibility.
Mrs. Aboderin’s vision has been transformative for SAHCO. Her strategic approach has not only delivered impressive financial results but also established new industry benchmarks for safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
With a continued focus on innovation and growth, SAHCO is poised for even greater achievements, solidifying its role as a trusted partner in the global aviation ground handling sector.
