New MD FAAN promises 100% backing for Aviacargo project as Committee submits 4th monthly report

The Aviacargo Roadmap Committee today presented its 4th monthly report to the new Managing Director, FederalAirports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Mr. Kabir Mohammed.

This is the first meeting with the new FAAN helmsman after his appointment last week.

The Committee since its inuaguration had submitted three monthly reports to the former MD FAAN, Capt Rabiu Yadudu.

The coordinator of the Committee, Mr. Ikechi before presenting the report briefed FAAN MD and the the new Director Commercial and Business Development Muyiwa Femi-Pearse on the activities of the committee and the tasks remaining to be accomplished.

Responding after receiving the report, the FAAN MD, Mr. Kabir Mohammed, applauded the members for supporting the Aviacargo vision of FAAN.

 He said, “governance is a continuum and FAAN remains 100% behind this Project and will support it’s continuation to a successful end”. 

Kabir thanked the committee for its excellent job and remaining faithful to the nations objective of improving its processes towards moving the nation to the number one position in exports on the African continent.

The terms of reference of the committee include to articulate action plan that meet international best practice and assign timelines for facilitation of cargo processing airports, to articulate guidelines that meet internationalbest practice for Public-Private Partnership in developing modern cargo infrastructure and facilities for optimum air-cargo facilitation that meets destination  standard.

Others are; to articulate programs and  incentives that’llencourage mass participation of local airlines in domestic cargofacilitation, to articulate mechanisms that will b ridge the turn-around time in c argo facilitation, to articulate solutions to lack of adequate insurance coverage in the cargo value chain and any other suggestions that may help us achievethe desired goal in cargo business in our  airports.
