…Demands Implementation of Safety Recommendations
The Nigerian Aviation Fire and Safety Association(NAFSA) has expressed concern over the Spate of Aircraft Excursions in Lagos .
The Association expressed this concern during a courtesy visit on the Director General, National Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, Capt. Alex Badeh(Jnr) in Abuja.
President of NAFSA, Comrade Sunday Ugbeikwu in a statement says, recent incidents of runway excursion involving two aircraft in Lagos have become a serious cause for concern to the Firefighters, adding that, the interval was too close and alarming.
He confirmed that there was another similar Aircraft Incident in Abuja over a week ago, which involved Azman Air B737 even though the nature of the emergency was different from those that occured in Lagos.

According to him, it is high time the Safety Recommendations issued by the NSIB were implemented because the frequent rate of Aircraft Incidents portends danger to the aviation sector.
Comrade Ugbeikwu, emphasized that despite the readiness of Firefighters in responding to emergencies, the fatal nature of Aircraft Accidents, would rather make NAFSA to encourage those saddled with the responsibility of compliance to the Safety Recommendations to do so.
Responding, the DG NSIB emphasized collaboration with NAFSA in the area of sensitization towards ensuring that safety is upheld.
Captain Alex Badeh(Jnr) while commending the fire fighters, assured that the NSIB will continue to do its job diligently while counting on the regulators across all modes of transportation for implementation of Safety Recommendations.
He further encouraged NAFSA to engage the regulator, NCAA and other Aviation Agencies in the implementation of the Safety Recommendations, believing that when things are done timely and appropriately, better results would be achieved.
