The Director of Safety Electronics and Engineering Services (DSEES), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Therese Ihenachor, has urged Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) to maintain a safety-first mindset and uphold technical excellence in their critical role within the aviation industry.
Speaking at the 2025 Annual General Meeting and public lecture of the Lagos chapter of the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE), Engr. Ihenachor commended the chapter’s dedication to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing through its regular AGMs.
Represented by Engr. Ishaya Dung, she praised the ATSEPs for their unwavering commitment to ensuring that NAMA’s Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) equipment operate optimally.
“NAMA management under the dynamic leadership of Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, FNSE, remains committed to providing adequate spares, tools, and training to support ATSEP efforts,” she said, urging personnel to build on their successes while addressing identified deficiencies.
Focusing on the event’s theme, ‘The ATSEP Mindset for Impact’, Engr. Ihenachor underscored that ATSEPs are vital to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable aviation systems.
According to her, a proactive approach to safety, precision in technical operations, and ongoing professional development are crucial in ensuring effective service delivery.
“ATSEPs must prioritize proactive maintenance, risk assessment, and strict adherence to regulatory standards to uphold aviation safety,” she stated.
Additionally, she asserted the importance of continuous learning, collaboration with industry stakeholders, and resilience under pressure as key traits for impactful professionals.
Engr. Ihenachor also affirmed the value of ethical responsibility, encouraging ATSEPs to maintain integrity and uphold public trust.
By embracing innovation and forward-thinking strategies, she noted, ATSEPs can contribute to improving aviation infrastructure for enhanced efficiency and sustainability.
She urged all ATSEP personnel to remain dedicated to their mission of ensuring safe skies while adapting to the evolving demands of the global aviation sector.
