The Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), led by Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination Hadiza Bala Usman, today met with the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development to review its Q1-Q3 2024 Performance Assessment Report.
While commending the Ministry for progress in certain areas, Ms. Usman expressed concern over incomplete data submissions, hindering independent assessment of progress towards key deliverables.
She also highlighted shortcomings in stakeholder and customer engagement.
The CRDCU recommended a revisiting of the draft policy on sanctions for airlines, citing the increasing number of flight delays and cancellations.
The current target of 224 days for resolving customer complaints was deemed unrealistic and in need of recalibration to align with global best practices.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development expressed appreciation for the CRDCU’s guidance and assured Ms. Usman that the Ministry would address the highlighted challenges and improve performance in the aviation sector.
The meeting was attended by key officials from the Ministry, including amongst others, the Permanent Secretary and heads of agencies such as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Managing Director, Nigerians Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
