The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) President, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, inaugurated three vital committees to steer the Society’s future.

This marks a significant step forward for the NSE, as it addresses crucial areas of strategic planning, governance, and operational efficiency.

The first committee, the NSE Strategic Document Committee, will be responsible for translating the Society’s Strategic Agenda, approved in March 2024, into actionable short-, medium-, and long-term goals.

This committee will play a pivotal role in charting a course for the NSE’s long-term growth and success.

Recognizing the need for updated regulations, the NSE also inaugurated the Committee to Review the NSE Harmonised Branch Bye-Laws.

This committee will address outdated provisions identified during the August 2024 Council meeting, ensuring that the Society’s operations at the branch level remain efficient and aligned with contemporary needs.

Furthermore, to enhance the quality and transparency of NSE’s recognition programs, the Committee for the Regulation of Public Lectures and Awards by Divisions and Branches was established.

This committee will develop clear guidelines for organizing lectures, colloquiums, and awards, ensuring a more structured and sustainable approach to honoring individuals and achievements within the engineering profession.

The NSE President, emphasized the importance of these committees, stating that this was an unprecedented move in the NSE’s history.

She highlighted the need for a refined Strategic Agenda and the importance of modernizing the Society’s operations and governance.

The committees, led by distinguished engineers, are expected to submit their findings to the NSE Council by March 2025.
