The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has issued a stern warning to international airlines operating in Nigeria.

The regulatory body announced that airlines selling tickets to passengers who are later denied entry or deported at transit stops will face stringent sanctions.

The NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, stated that this decision follows numerous complaints from affected passengers.

Many travellers were reportedly unaware of visa or travel restrictions, leading to distress and damage to Nigeria’s aviation reputation.

Citing the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 (Part 19.21.1.1), the NCAA reiterated that airlines must provide passengers with accurate and up-to-date information on travel and visa requirements before ticketing and boarding.

Airlines failing to comply risk regulatory penalties, including fines, suspension, or other measures.
