The Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Captain Hamisu Yadudu has lauded the Fire Cooperative Society for its contributions to the vision of the Authority and other sister agencies in ensuring the welfare of staff are well taken care of.
Inaugurating the newly built hotel facility by the Airport Fire and Safety Multi-purpose Cooperative Society, AFSCMS, Capt. Yadudu said he was aware of the testimonies from many staff about the positive impact the societies have been making in ensuring members achieve their desires in terms of projecting financing through loan disbursements and other facilities.
According to him, “this society and others alike have created a place for themselves in the industry not only as critical stakeholders but also as worthy partners in our quest towards achieving the overall objective of strategically positioning the industry”.
Capt. Yadudu represented by the Director Security Services FAAN, USA Sadique while appreciating the invaluable contributions of the society said he was elated to be called upon to unveil the magnificent edifice, the Cooperative Hotel.
On his part, Capt. Sadique Director Security FAAN, harped on the need to key in and adhere to the Federal Government’s agenda viz providing security, curtailing corruption and economic development which the establishment of the Cooperative hotel stands for.
On their tripartite request of providing electricity, security and furnishing, he assured the executives of the society that management would address these as soon as possible.
Capt. Sadique in the goodwill message of the Minister of Aviation Senator Hadi Sirika applauded the society’s giant strides and commendation to the leadership of the society.
After the unveiling of the hotel, the newly elected executives of the Cooperative took their oath of office and were sworn-in.
In his inauguration speech, the new President of AFSCMS, Sadiq pledged to take the society to the next level, adding that during his tenure, they would work assiduously to sustain the revered values and principles of the society.
“Every decision we shall be making in the process of adding more values will be members focused. This is our primary mandate”.
“To whom much is given much is expected. The position of leadership is a selfless service to humanity. It is not about being in charge but taking care of those in your charge. It is about servant leadership”.
He disclosed that the execs have articulated a very robust roadmap for the implementation of the observations and recommendations made by members at the 2018 AGM.
“Having been part of the process of the society’s leadership over the years, it is a typical phenomenal of an old wine in a new bottle. It can be better”.
On the established investment platforms, Sadiq noted that it would be consolidated on to maximize return on investment which would translate to more dividends for the members.
“There will be a departure from what it used to be in our administration style. A paradigm shift in our quest to add more value to the members and the environment”.
Highlights of the event of the unveiling and swearing-in were the cutting of the inauguration cake, tour of the hotel by dignitaries and group photographs.
