The Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, emphasizes that Nigeria’s economy and revenue generation will receive a significant boost with proper investments in the transportation of perishable goods via air transportation.
Speaking at the Inauguration of the newly refurbished Minna, Niger state airport now renamed Bola Tinubu International airport, Mrs Kuku applauded the state Governor for the speedy completion of the projects, adding, this would contribute immensely to improving the state’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP.
She noted that, the rapid overhaul of the runway and construction of the passenger terminal, achieved through costly efforts and collaboration among all stakeholders, symbolizes the nation’s commitment to advancing infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and fostering economic growth.
The FAAN boss expressed optimism that, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna is envisioned to become a global gateway, facilitating trade, tourism, and collaboration on an international scale.
Mrs. Kuku explained that, FAAN’s aspiration is to stimulate Nigeria’s economy by facilitating exports and reducing the annual loss of perishable goods valued at N3.6 trillion.
According to her, the promise of President Tinubu to swiftly complete the Cargo and International Terminals is eagerly awaited to support the state’s ambition to become the leading food producer and exporter.
Renaming the Minna International Airport after President Tinubu, she said, is deemed historic and appropriate, reflecting the administration’s policy direction and implementations.
Adding that, the event not only honours a visionary leader but also marks a new phase in aviation industry development.
Mrs Kuku stressed that, President Tinubu’s commitment to progress and excellence is evident in all his policies and programs, and FAAN is proud to collaborate with the visionary leadership of the Niger State Government led by Governor Bago.
She expressed appreciation to all contributors to the project’s success, including consultants, FAAN engineers, construction workers, government officials, and FAAN staff.
