The Banjul Accord Group Accident Investigation Agency (BAGAIA) is organizing a five-day training program from June 3rd to June 7th, 2024.
Additionally, BAGAIA will hold its 10th Commission Meeting from June 10th to June 12th, 2024, at the Farmington Hotel in Monrovia, Liberia.
These events, part of BAGAIA’s 2024 safety program, are hosted by the Liberian Government and supported by the African Union in partnership with the European Union under the EU-ASA project.
The theme is: “BAGAIA at 15: Celebrating One and Half Decade of Impact.”
BAGAIA Commissioner, Engr. Charles Irikefe Erhueh, stated that the meeting will highlight the agency’s advancements.
He emphasized that the regional accident investigation organization will discuss the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between BAGAIA and the Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA) in the East African Community (EAC) region.
Erhueh also mentioned that there will be updates on BAGAIA’s expansion, including the establishment of a regional aircraft accident and incident investigation bureau in West Africa.
The training aims to provide tools and knowledge for basic aircraft accident and incident investigation, covering key topics such as accident investigation management, stakeholder responsibilities, flight recorders, data downloads, investigation processes, and report writing.
The five-day program seeks to improve aviation safety across the continent and help member states fulfill their obligations under the Chicago Convention.
