The upsurge in passenger traffic has resulted in the collapse of the baggage systems at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Terminal, MM2.
This development has led to delays of passengers and airline officials are in a state of fustration as to what to do to maintain their on time departures.
This situation has also led to passengers being stranded across their networks in the country.
Apart from the baggage systems challenges, space for parking aircraft and getting it out is also an issue at the terminal.
An airline official who spoke with newsbulletinng.com few minutes ago said, the problem has been on for some time now and every time the baggage system collapses, it is fix but the problem kept persisting.
“We are tired, it is affecting our operations, on Monday when I listened to Mr. Raphael of MM2 on radio talking about arrangements made for seamless facilitation of passengers I laughed, they are lying, they have not done enough to help us”.
“Aircraft are parked close to each other bumper to bumper at MM2, airlines getting their aircraft for operations is a herculean task”.
According to the airline official, the situation is not different at the Abuja airport describing the situation as chaotic and frustrating for both passengers and airlines.
At the General Aviation Terminal One managed by FAAN, only one screening machine is said to be functional and in use as officials manning the machines are exhausted sorting and screening of the baggage.
An official of the MM2 reacting to the situation said, the Management has been up and doing on the matter and is trying their best to address the issue.
He said, it is not true that they are not doing anything about, adding that, the airlines are not understand with them on the situation.
