WRFFFORUM Extends Helping Hand to Families of Fallen Female Firefighters

A Nigerian Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, The Women Rescue and Firefighting Forum (WRFFFORUM), has provided financial aid and gifts to the families of two deceased female firefighters.

The donation is to help the families cover educational expenses for members pursuing studies at both primary and polytechnic levels.

The ceremony which took place at the FAAN Rescue and Firefighting Unit, MMIA, Lagos witnessed two families, Fidelis Slyvester and Ben Itasanmi Ben receiving cheques for various amounts.

WRFF Forum president, Mr. Frank Osadebe, explained that, their mission is to support families of firefighters who died in the line of duty, offer financial aid for education, safety training programs, and advocate for female firefighters.

According to him, WRFF Forum has a history of assisting bereaved families, adding that the NGO comprises all rescue and Firefighting personnel not just women only.

Mr. Osadebe highlighted a case where help is needed for a child with disability to receive a leg surgery.

He said, the organization is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to reach more Nigerians in need.

Ms. Isebor Amaka, WRFF Forum secretary, appealed to the public for additional support to help the disabled daughter of a deceased firefighter with her surgery.

Beyond this specific case, Mr. Osadebe, speaking on International Women’s Day, emphasized the importance of gender equality and inclusion.

He advocated for more women in leadership roles, increased access to education for girls, and an end to harmful practices against women.
