Workshop: NCAA staff urged to save for retirement

The staff of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, have been advised to choose a lifestyle that will help them save and enjoy life while in service and after retirement.

The advise was given at a sensitization workshop/lecture for aviation staff in Lagos.

The lecturer and pension expert, Mr. Tayo Akinsanmi said many people spend their earnings on frivolous things because of their sources of income and at retirement have little or nothing to sustain them.

He urged workers to start the habit of saving early and invest in a business that would yield profits for them, adding that if they must source for loan, it should be used wisely.

The General Manager, Human Resources, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority NCAA, Mr. Anthony Ayasal said, many of the staff needed to know the benefits of the contributory pension scheme and how to use and invest their funds at retirement.
“We have been inundated with questions by staff on how to plan their finances, their earnings so that by the time they retire they will have something’s to fall on”.

Participants at the workshop described the lecture as an eye opener, adding that they were now better equipped on how to plan their finances now and into retirement.

“The workshop has helped me to how how to plan my finances, I don’t need to wait for my children to feed me when I retire, it is very critical in old age that you are able to feed and what you need in old age is feeding and accommodation”.
“The economy today is teaching us a good lesson, we must have something to fall on. When you retire, you know your income will not be as it use to be when in service, what you spend money on, you have to reduce”.
