WILAT Nigeria, a leading Association for women in logistics and transport, recently commemorated its Founder’s Day with a special webinar held on June 12, 2025.
The event, marking the organization’s inception on June 12, 2010, aimed to enlighten members on WILAT Nigeria’s journey and foundational principles, alongside a crucial health awareness session for women.
Chairperson of WILAT Nigeria, Pharm. Mrs. Khadijat Sheidu-Shabi, extended a warm welcome to all participants, emphasizing the significance of Founder’s Day as an occasion to reflect on the organization’s genesis and growth.
She highlighted that the webinar was specifically designed to trace WILAT’s evolution in Nigeria from its inception to the present day.
Following this historical overview, a health talk was presented, focusing on empowering women to prioritize their well-being.
Mrs. Sheidu-Shabi also seized the opportunity to invite all members to the highly anticipated 2025 WILAT Day Conference.
The conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
She officially declared the event open, encouraging attendees to fully engage with and benefit from the day’s lectures.
Delivering a presentation rooted in both medical insight and spiritual grounding, with the theme: “Women’s Health Screening Roadmap, Dr. Chinwe Nwokolo, called on women to “take charge of your health.”
She emphasized the transformative power of knowledge, quoting from the book of Proverbs to stress the life-saving impact of understanding and applying health information.
“The just shall be delivered by knowledge,” she reminded the audience, linking spiritual wisdom to practical health behaviours.
At the heart of her message were the four pillars of health: promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
She particularly highlighted health promotion as a personal responsibility, choosing behaviors that reduce the risk of chronic illnesses and long-term disability.
From adequate nutrition and hydration to exercise, rest, and family planning, women were encouraged to invest in their wellness by making informed, intentional choices.
Dr. Nwokolo stressed the importance of bone health, noting that bone density peaks around age 30 and begins to decline with age, especially during menopause.
She advised women to consume calcium-rich foods, maintain adequate vitamin D levels through diet and sunlight, and engage in weight-bearing exercises, all of which are essential in preventing osteoporosis.
“Reduce salt, cut down fizzy drinks, and watch your step, preventing falls is as crucial as strengthening bones,” she said.
Beyond the clinical advice, Dr. Nwokolo left her audience with a heartfelt reminder: attitude is everything. “Seek help when you need it,” she said, “but do so without spiritual, academic, or financial arrogance.”
She encouraged women to live with gratitude, embrace laughter, nurture God-ordained relationships, and stay aligned with their life’s purpose.
In closing, she echoed a powerful call to action: “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing… Get screened today.”
The webinar was graced by several dignitaries who offered goodwill messages, underscoring the strong network and support WILAT Nigeria enjoys.
Notable speakers included Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim, the esteemed Founder of WILAT; Dr. Gidado, a close friend of WILAT; Mrs. Doreen Owusu Fianko from Ghana; Dr. Ogochukwu Ugboma GVC; and Madam Folake Soji-George.

The proceedings were expertly moderated by Mrs. Ajayi Queen, who serves as the Public Relations Officer for WILAT Nigeria and is also the Aviation Mode Representative in the CILT Council.
