United Nigeria Airlines has officially received its membership certificate from the International Air Transport Association IATA.
At the presentation of the certificate at the airline’s office in Lagos today, the IATA’s Regional Director, West and Central Africa, Mr. Samson Fatokun commended the airlines for their continuous commitment to Safety and ensuring passengers satisfaction in their operations.
He commended the level at which United Nigeria Airline had progressed in the last three years since starting operation.
“It is a testimony of the rapid growth that we are seeing with United Nigeria. I can’t remember airlines within this region that has gone so fast in being IATA member. I have seen several airlines that have been in operations for decades that have not gotten to this level at this very short time”.
While welcoming United Nigeria Airline into the IATA family, Dr. Fatokun said, “This is an encouragement for you that being a member of IATA you have IATA behind you and that you are our member and we do everything possible to support you in your operations, progress and we are now part of the same family, you also come into the same family where you have bigger airlines of this world”.
“You have meant the requirements in safety side and other requirements put before you and you have done well, you have passed and you are here now”.
Responding, Chairman, United Nigeria Airline, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo expressed appreciation to IATA for the membership and the management team for their dedication and being able to translate their vision into reality.
“This is an unprecedented success and achievements, we entirely dedicated that to God Almighty and all the credit should go to the management team that is ably led by the Executive Director and the CEO. Am very proud of this team, am glad they have been able to understand and translate our vision into reality and believing that, this is the beginning not an end”.
