In a bid to enhance the travel experience in Nigeria, the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Lola Ade-John, recently met with her counterpart, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo.

The two ministers, who have a mandate from the President to improve the travel experience in Nigeria, discussed the crucial role of aviation in developing the country’s travel and tourism sector.

As the Minister of Aviation works to revamp the aviation ecosystem, it is expected that tourism will be a major beneficiary of the improvements.

The meeting aimed to interconnect the important pillars of national development, with a focus on tourism and aviation.

Mrs. Ade-John, who has been working to promote tourism in Nigeria, has made significant strides in recent times.

She recently collaborated with the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller General of Nigerian Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, to reduce online visa fees for African travelers by more than 50%.

This development has been hailed as a major milestone for travel to Nigeria.

The Minister of Tourism has also worked out an arrangement with the Minister of Transport to involve Nigerian tour operators in the utilization of rail and road infrastructure for domestic tourism.

Acknowledging the crucial role of aviation in achieving the Presidential mandate to improve passenger experience, Mrs. Ade-John emphasized the need for domestic airlines to partner with tour operators to develop affordable packages.

She also called for foreign airlines to play Nigerian destination videos when arriving in the country and to support travel and tourism events in Nigeria.

The Minister of Tourism has also been actively engaging with stakeholders across the country, attending major private sector events and listening to their concerns.

She is set to speak at the Akwaaba African Travel Market, the biggest travel and tourism expo in West Africa, today September 24th.
