The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced its inaugural ICAO sponsored training with an ICAO Risk Management Workshop at the Aviation Security Training Centre, FAAN Training School, Lagos.

This is coming on the heels of the certification and designation of the FAAN training centre as an ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre on the 9th October, 2018,

Declaring the workshop open, the Managing Director, FAAN, represented by the Director, Engineering Services, Salisu Daura noted that the workshop was coming at the appropriate time considering the fact that Civil Aviation was increasingly being targeted by terrorists due to the immense impact it had on human victims, material damages and the integrity of a nation.

Adding that risk management was a critical variable in the aviation industry, he enjoined member states to cooperate more to ensure proper coordination in dealing with rising risks and terrorist attacks.

Daura noted that the FAAN/ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre had the capacity to meet the training needs for the West and Central African regions and to contribute substantially to the development and improvement of Aviation Security Training globally.
