The lifeless body of a man was found on one of Arik’s Air Airbus 330-200 aircraft at the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg yesterday.
The body identified as a stowaway was found in the main wheel well of the aircraft
According to the spokesman of the airline, Mr Banji Ola , the aircraft operated the scheduled Lagos-Johannesburg flight that departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 3:55pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 and arrived Johannesburg shortly before 11pm.
He said the lifeless body was discovered by Engineers of the South African Airways at its Technical facility at the Oliver Tambo International Airport during a scheduled routine maintenance check.
The airline noted that investigations are ongoing to determine how the stowaway found his way into the aircraft’s main wheel well from the originating flight.
